The third and final series from Towne's journey to England in 1781 seems to be the least complete, comprising only nine surviving sheets. The earliest number, 2, is given to a panoramic view of Lake Geneva dated 11 September (FT374, FT375, FT376), and a panoramic view of Lausanne, drawn the previous evening but numbered 11 (FT384), is the latest number in the sequence to survive. The latest date in this third series is 20 September, on a drawing of Vevey (FT380). Towne made these sketches concurrently with the Small Sketchbook series, but after he had ceased making drawings in the C&I Honig series.
For information about Towne's journey from Rome to England in August and September 1781, see 2: On the Continent, 1780-1.
