Comment

This seems to be an imaginary Italianate landscape study drawn by an unknown pupil, and based on a source drawing that Towne himself made for the purpose (FT847a, now lost) since another version of the same composition survives in Miss Maingey’s album (FT847). It was doubtless given to a pupil to copy at an early stage of tuition.
