This drawing, known only from its exhibition in 1805, was no doubt among the drawings that Towne made on his journey out from England to Italy, as he is known to have travelled in Savoy then. “Yanaise” is probably Annecy, but it could be identified with Ayse, near Bonneville, or else with Vanoise, near Mount Cenis.
